Bad Things Happen

God could have prevented it-  Why didn't He? He can change any circumstances I face.

Do thoughts like these ever go through your mind? If you're honest. you'll have to admit they do. You don't like  what God is allowing in your life. So what are you options?

You have two choices: either to turn away from God and become bitter, or to turn to God and rely on Him even though you don't understand why you are suffering.

It's pretty obvious that Option 1- turning away from God and becoming bitter-is not a good choice. That leaves Option 2- turning to God. When you choose to rely on God, you give up relying on any logical reason for what is happening. You simply say, "God, I am going to rely on You and no one else. I ask You to solve this problem. But if You don't, I will trust you anyway."

Like the three Israelites in the book of Daniel who were thrown into the fiery furnace, you say, "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, ... but even if he does not, we will not turn our backs on Him" (Daniel 3:17-18). If you think they burned, read the story.

Let's say you decide you can't trust God. Whom will you trust? When some of the crowds turned back and no longer followed Jesus because they didn't like His teachings, He asked the disciples if they wanted to leave too. Peter answered, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life" (John 6:68)

When Disaster happens, to whom will you go?
